    We have learned the basics of waves as a disturbance that travels through a medium, as well as the simple harmonic motion that will govern any calculations related to wave movement. In this section we will address some additional ways in which we can characterize waves. What form does the disturbance take? Are there some ways that simple harmonic motion interacts with materials in special ways? What happens when waves interact with each other? What happens when the source of the wave is itself moving relative to your frame of reference? We will explore all of these ideas in this section.
