All student education records are maintained in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974 and the California Education Code. FERPA (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records and applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.

No information defined as educational records in federal and state law will be released to third parties (individuals or organizations other than: (1) the student, (2) instructor of record, or (3) campus connected to course) without explicit student consent. All student education records will be maintained on secure servers up to 100 days after the formal end of the quarter. Afterward, all education records with the exception of student identifying information will be purged. Exceptions will be handled on an ad hoc basis and with explicit approval of students (e.g., Instructional Review Board approved research studies).
