Chapter 9: Liquids and Solids
( \newcommand{\kernel}{\mathrm{null}\,}\)
Characterizing the properties of gases was simplified since the interactions between the gas molecules could be safely neglected. In constrast, the molecules, ions, and atoms that constitute liquids and solids are sufficiently close that their interactions cannot be ignored. These phases are collectively called condensed phases. due to their high density compared to gases.
