# 9.5: Intermolecular Forces

As suggested by the Lewis acid-base concept's ability to describe halogen bonding in terms of the interaction between electrophilic and nucleophilic centers, the Lewis concept can be applied to the understanding of a variety of intermolecular interactions. In the next two sections the utility of Lewis Theory for understanding hydrogen bond and $$\pi - \pi$$ stacking interactions will be examined.
