Promoting Diversity, Inclusion and Avoiding Harassment

All members of this course will foster an environment for listening and considering new ideas from a diverse group, with respect for all participants without regard to gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, political orientation, age, or any other aspect of how we identify ourselves other than as fellow scientists.

There is zero tolerance in this course for any form of harassment or hate speech, during class meetings or outside of scheduled class time, which could include verbal or physical conduct that has the purpose or effect of interfering with anyone else’s participation or performance, or of creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment; any such harassment will result in dismissal from the course and will be reported to the college.

    Safety during a Pandemic

All members of this course will adopt the four core guidelines for participation in our campus community during a pandemic, and that are critical to suppress the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in our community. All members of this course will wear face coverings over mouth and nose at all times during scheduled in-person class meetings and during any group collaboration sessions that are informally arranged outside of class time. During our in-person meetings, indoor seating will be assigned and all members will maintain distance of 6 feet from another person. Distancing and mask wearing will be maintained during in-person meetings whether we meet indoors or outdoors. Any student who removes a mask or approaches close to another person will be dismissed from the course and reported to the college.
