Rather than going directly to a library or a book using the URL, one can use the LibreTexts Commons (https://commons.libretexts.org/libraries)

Figure \(\PageIndex{1}\): Access to the 14 libraries from LibreTexts Commons

After clicking on the Library of your choice, you can select either the front page of the library or one of the sub-divisions

Figure \(\PageIndex{2}\): One can go either to the front page of the Library by clicking on its name or to one of the sublibraries

    Navagating in a Library

Having selected a library one comes to the front page

Figure \(\PageIndex{3}\): Front page of the humanities library. Note the blue bar on the far left

Although one can drill down to find any text in the library and any page in the texts by clicking on the appropriate boxes, the blue bar makes navigation much easier. Clicking on contents leads one to an expandable menu from which one can navigate to any book, chapter or page.

Figure \(\PageIndex{4}\): Clicking on the Contents tab in the Blue Bar allows straightforward navigation to any book, chapter or page

The Readability menu allows setting text size, margin size and color scheme. The BeeLine Reader assists those with difficulty reading by providing an eye guiding color gradient to pull your eyes through long blocks of text.

Figure \(\PageIndex{5}\): The Readability tab has tools to improve readability by controlling text, margin and color schemes

The Resources Tab gives access to tools that readers can use during study. This tab is underdevelopment for some libraries

Figure \(\PageIndex{6}\): Resources tab gives access to tools that can help readers

Now if we move off to a LibreTexts book, there are some changes to note. First a light blue bar has appeared under the gray sign in bar. This shows where you are, having started from the Stats Library front page, selected the Campus Bookshelves, then the CUNY area, and finally the book, Introductory Statistics with Probability. You can rapidly move up the hierarchy by clicking on any of these. The three lines at the left hand end of the bar are a tab which will pull down the same selection menu as the Contents tab on the far left blue bar.

The red, blue, grey, green bar at the far right also provides some important functions. the pdf button will print whatever selection (book, chapter, page) you are in. The Downloads button provides access to LibreTexts' Bookstore where you can buy a printed copy of the book using Lulu.com, a just in time printer, download the Common Cartridge for linking the chapters in the book to your LMS, and several options for generating and printing pdf files. Readability is the same as the Readability tab on the far left blue bar. Donate, well, go ahead, please do.

Finally lets look at the Tools tab on the far left Blue Bar. Some of these are useful for readers. We will concentrate here on the ones useful for readers, but first note that this clicking on OER Remixer brings you there. Anyone can use the remixer to create a book outline and save it for a later time when they may have authoring rights but only registered instructors can use it to create a book.

Page Citations can be automatically generated and Page Attribution shows the copyright status and source of the page. Get Page Source shows the HTML source for the page. Toggle AutoAttribution will show the source of individual paragraphs which is especially useful for remixes which may have material from multiple sources and Bookmark Page lets you go to this page directly once you enter the library.

We will meet tabs on the inststrictor Tools Menu as we go through this construction manual.

Figure \(\PageIndex{8}\): The Tools Menu for students.

Enter Reader Mode at the top brings up another view which you may find easier to read, but instructors cannot edit from this view. To edit they will need to click on the Sign In at the far right on the gray bar at the top.
