Welcome to Unit 2 Session 3. In our first session, we reviewed reader response theory and considered how our individual frameworks and experiences impact how we view literature. In our last session, we explored gender theory and how gender can play a role in the way we interpret literature. In this session, we'll look at another critical theory, social class theory. It's all about how a person's wealth, status, and power impact the telling of a story. Although this will be the last critical theory we'll study in this unit, we'll continue to use reader response theory, gender theory, and class theory to examine and analyze other texts this semester. Here are a few essential questions we'll consider in this session:
