    Required Training

    Required PPE

    UC Lab Safety Fundamentals

Lab coat, safety glasses/goggles, nitrile gloves

    Equipment

    Chemicals

    207.21 g Lead metal

    298.0 g Sodium dichromate, dihydrate (Na2Cr2O7*2H2O)

    342.3 g Sucrose (C11H22O11)

    251.5 g Cupric sulfate, pentahydrate (CuSO4*5H2O)

    58.5 g Sodium chloride (NaCl)

    18 g Water (H2O)

    Procedure:

    N/A

    Discussion:

Explain that each container holds one mole of the labeled chemicals

    Hazards:

Lead and sodium dichromate are thought to be carcinogenic. Although the containers are sealed, handle the demonstration with proper PPE including gloves and goggles. If accidental release occurs refer to MSDS.
