    the following list has the names of the elements in the periodic table, which is a list of strings.  If you print the list, what you print is a list.

    element_list = ['Hydrogen', 'Helium', 'Lithium', 'Beryllium', 'Boron', 'Carbon', 'Nitrogen', 'Oxygen', 'Fluorine', \
                    'Neon', 'Sodium', 'Magnesium', 'Aluminium', 'Silicon', 'Phosphorus', 'Sulfur', 'Chlorine', 'Argon', \
                    'Potassium', 'Calcium', 'Scandium', 'Titanium', 'Vanadium', 'Chromium', 'Manganese', 'Iron', 'Cobalt',

    If you want to just print the names of the elements you can run a for loop, and go through and print each item within the list

    If you want to print them on a single line you can add:  , end=", " to your print statement

    Modulus

     We can use the modulus to identify even and odd number by dividing by two

    list1 = [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10]
    for num in list1:
        if num % 2 == 0:
            print(f'{num} is even')
        else:
            print(f'{num} is odd')
    Hello world!

     

    Shorthand assignment operators

    If you remember, indexing a string starts with the zero position

    The following code uses a for loop to print the letter at each index position

    index_count = 0
    word='abcde'
    for letter in word:
        print(word[index_count])
        index_count = index_count + 1
    Hello world!

    We can reduce the amount of code by using the shorthand += assignment operator

    index_count = 0
    word='abcde'
    for letter in word:
        print(word[index_count])
        index_count +=1
            hello world
          

     

     

     

    Range Function

    The range function allows you to generate a list of numbers over a range.  It starts with the zero position and give the number of digits in the number.  So a range of 10 prints 0 through 9.

    for num in range(10):
        print(num, end=' ')
    print('\n',10*'*')
        
    for num in range(3,10):
        print(num, end='.')
    print('\n',10*'*')
    
    for num in range(3,10,3):
        print(num, end=',')
