A burette is used to deliver known volumes of a liquid
Filling a burette
- Rinse the burette with titrant a few times to prevent contamination. (Add a mL or so to rinse sides, open stopcock and drain into waste beaker, repeat)
- Make sure stopcock is closed (horizontal)
- Pour the titrant through a funnel at the mouth of the burette. Slightly lift the funnel to prevent the liquid from overflowing.
- If there is a bubble open the stopcock and tab the side of the burette until bubble disappears
- Fill the burette to slightly above mark (remember burette is read from top down, so the top is 0.00mL)
