Reaction

This is an example of a free radical reaction with the following reaction mechanism:

HBrO₃ + HBrO₂ -> 2BrO₂ (radical) + H₂O

H⁺ + 2BrO₂ (radical) + Fe(phen)₃²⁺ -> Fe(phen)₃³⁺ + HBrO₂

HBrO₂ + H⁺ + Br^- -> 2HOBr
