    Criteria for Good Sources

One of the amazing things about living in the 21st Century is the sheer volume of information that’s out there and readily accessible at our fingertips.  We can find out anything we want to know on almost any topic.

The trouble is that with all that information floating out there in cyberspace, it can be difficult to tell which information is helpful and high quality and which information is unreliable, or even worse, just plain false.

One way to evaluate whether a source is high quality is to use acronym CRAAP.  This acronym helps you discover if a source is something you should use in your research or something to pass over.

     CRAAP stands for

    C- Currency

    R- Relevance

    A- Authority

    A- Accuracy

    P- Purpose

Watch the video embedded on the left and think about how you can use these criteria to ensure you’re choosing good sources for your research.

There are also two articles attached below on how to evaluate sources and how to search the web successfully.  Choose one and review the information there on how to conduct a successful search.
