    Learning Objectives

    We'll explore the theme of power in various pieces of literature, examining its effect on humans in their thoughts and actions.

    By the end of this week, you will:

    • explore the ways power is used and develop ideas about how power influences society
    • understand that writing is situated in a time and place, and that these factors influence the writer’s perspective
    • use writing as a tool to expand thinking by comparing and contrasting texts
    • continually revise your perspective of the world as you read a variety of literary texts and discuss with others
    • analyze human motives, conflicts, and the quest for power by reading and discussing a variety of texts
    • select relevant evidence from the text to support your ideas
