Pyramid Models

  • A pyramid can be used to model the distribution of energy among trophic levels in an ecosystem. 

    In an energy pyramid it is important to note that up to 90% of the energy is lost into the atmosphere as heat. This means only 10% of the energy is available to transfer to the next level up. 


    Some of the information in the Teacher's Pet video, Energy Transfer in Trophic Levels is review, but it does a good job of covering the energy pyramid.
