2. Assembly of Buffer Vial Holder

    The buffer vial holder is designed to serve as a non-conductive base from which to suspend the anode buffer reservoir vial. It allows the user to adjust the vial height, and is inside the Plexiglas interlock box.

    Materials:

    • 10x15x3 cm non-conductive block for base (We used the epoxy resin base from a ring stand)
    • 10x10x1 cm nonconductive block for top platform
    • non-conductive dowel rod
    • non-conductive screw to lock the top platform
    1. There should be holes in the base and holes in the top platform to accommodate the support rod. In the top plate there should be a hole in the middle backside for the screw that locks the dowel rod in place, and one in the front right side for the vial. This hole should be the same size as the vial lid. (The sample vial will screw into this hole during data collection.).
    2. Connect the top and bottom platforms with the support rod.
    3. Insert the platform adjustment screw through the hole in the back of the top platform to hold the dowel in place. Adjust the screw to change the height of the top platform. During data collection the sample vial and collection vial should be the same height.
    4. Fix a 3 mL vial lid into the vial hole in the top of the platform with glue.

    5. Place septa in the vial hole in the top platform, and screw the sample vial into the vial holder.
