We will see how the results of quantum mechanics can be used via statistical mechanics to predict macroscopic properties. We will extend our understanding of quantum mechanics and apply quantum mechanics to the detailed explanation of molecular spectra and how lasers work. Statistical mechanics will also be used to develop more detailed models of intermolecular collisions, plus photochemical and catalyzed reactions. We will also take a more detailed look at stochastic methods for modeling chemical kinetics.
