    Cyanide-Free Modification

    The Scheidt group developed a modified Gorey-Gilman-Ganem using N-heterocyclic Carbenes (NHCs) as catalysts instead of cyanide.

    The Scheidt group was also able to expand the scope of the reaction to use non-benzylic or allylic substrates.
