Example Conclusion #1 (cover letter): In addition to my academic qualifications, I also believe that my resume exhibits a strong potential for future accomplishment in the scientific field. Example Conclusion #2 (application essay): The terrible thing is that I know when I die I will not know a millionth of the knowledge which all people on earth collectively hold. Example Conclusion #3 (application essay): Clearly, I have devoted my life both to working to better myself and to improving civilization as a whole. Throughout the rest of my life, I hope to continue in this same manner of unselfish work. Just as freeholder Crabiel dedicates his life to public service, I commit my life to helping others and to advancing society's level of understanding.

We’ve made quite a few changes in our application writing to this point. Our final step in revision will be to look at our application writing through the lens of the conclusion. The conclusion of your paper should accomplish multiple purposes. First, it should help wrap-up the core ideas in the main text. It should give your paper a “finished” feeling. Second, it should help your reader draw a larger conclusion. In a cover letter, that means that it encourages the reader to get in touch for an interview. In an application essay, it should demonstrate for the leader the greater meaning of the event or item that you described in the paper.

Take a look at some of the example conclusions paragraphs on the left. Then look at your conclusion and revise it to ensure that it leaves your reader with the right final feeling. Make sure Track Changes is still on!
