    Welcome and Essential Questions

Welcome to Unit 1 Session 2A.  This session is specifically written for students who are planning to enter the workforce next year and need to perfect their resume and cover letter writing skills.

If you’d rather focus on writing a college essay, go to the Materials button and then Unit 1.  Choose Session 2B instead, which focuses on college essays.

Let me know which session you've chosen and I'll add you to that group so that you only see one set of assignments.

Here are some essential questions we'll consider through our work in this session:

    • Are some elements of context (purpopse, subject, audience, and situation) more important than the others? Why or why not?
    • What criteria do I use to evaluate if my communcation or the communicatio of others is effective?
    • How do I use the parameters of this high-stakes writing situation to my advantage?
    • What questions do I need to ask myself and others to analyze the context of this writing?
    • Does my writing show my audience (i.e., readers) that I am a potential or needed asset to their institution or organization?
