    Through our reading of The Great Gatsby, we have come  to see how context, setting, literary devices, and the characters an author uses develops or supports their argument/theme. Context, setting, literary devices, and characters are all tools to an author, and work together to leave readers with a developed argument.

    Review the infographic below on the characters within The Great Gatsby then watch the video about the American Dream in the novel. The video further explains some of the elements Fitzgerald uses to develop his argument and probably contains some things you missed. Take notes to use in the discussion that follows, and to help you with your final.
