Directions: After reading "We Grow Accustomed to the Dark" and "Man Listening to Disc", choose ONE and write an extended response that shows the cumulative impact of the author’s word choice (both connotative and denotative) to establish the tone and convey the meaning of the piece. Cite strong and thorough textual evidence to support both what the author explicitly says and what you can infer based on the word choice used in the text.

You should consider using your annotations that you turned in to help you with this assignment. You will be graded according to the attached rubric. It is the same class rubric that we have been using. Since it says "extended response" your writing should be more than one paragraph. Aim for at least 3!

When you are finished, submit your assignment to the dropbox.
