Advanced Problems require application of the knowledge you gained in the Mechanical Problems for this topic to a previously unseen situation. These problems test how deeply you understand the material and provide the challenge you need to grow intellectually. While doing these problems, push yourself. Try completing the problems without looking at the solutions until your next study session. Remember, your brain will keep working while you take a hard-earned break! When you come to an Advanced Problem that you are stuck on, use the solutions—which model how to think about the problems—to try to explain how to do the problem and identify why/how you were stuck. These are great problems to discuss with your classmates and Q&SC tutors. Explaining how to do these complicated problems out loud will really help you assess what you do and don't understand.
