In addition to ionic and covalent bonding, there are also a variety of non-covalent interactions that stabilize the interactions between different molecules. Although each of these interactions tend to be weak, there are many of them present, and they are responsible for many of the interactions that take place in biological environments.

    • 4.1: Intermolecular Interactions
A phase is a form of matter that has the same physical properties throughout. Molecules interact with each other through various forces: ionic and covalent bonds, dipole-dipole interactions, hydrogen bonding, and dispersion forces.
