For our main grammar resource, we will be using the Spanish Grammar Manual written by Enrique Yepes and hosted by Libretexts.org. You are also welcome to find and use other grammar resources as you go along. However, I will direct you to do practice activities in the Yepes book at times, so please get familiar with that site.
Go to the Spanish Grammar Manual's Unit 1: Alphabet, Spelling, Written Accent, Capitalization. You will find Yepes' explanations, in Spanish and English, on these topics. He does go into a lot of detail! I am not concerned that you know the grammatical terms, but that you can apply the rules and use accent marks appropriately.
For additional explanation of how to divide a word into syllables, see Appendix 17.2: División silábica.
In each section, Yepes has one or more practice exercises with an answer key. You should use those to review and practice material as we progress through the semester. These are not graded, but they are very helpful for practicing and getting immediate feedback on whether you're right or wrong. All activities have a "Respuestas" link at the bottom. For some activities, there is an interactive version available (ejercicio interactivo.)
At the bottom of some sections, he also includes links to other online practice resources for the topic.
