This first "Orientation and Introduction" session prepares students for success in online learning.  We'll take care of "nuts and bolts" of the course, establish communication, get to know each other, begin writing in weekly journals, and gather background information for our first full unit.   SCROLL DOWN for your assignments and schedule.

Review the content in the Orientation session and read the course syllabus. Be sure you are familiar with course objectives and policies. Take the .15 Syllabus Quiz

Set up your schedule, work space, and technologies. Set your Schoology notifications the way you want them. Link your Google and Schoology accounts. Sign up for Remind and submit your response for assignment .12 Remind.

 

Create an introduction about yourself.  Upload this introduction and a picture that complements your text on the ".13 Get to Know You" discussion board.  

Set up your reflective journals a Google document that you'll use each week. 

 

Return to .13 Get to Know You discussion board. Read peer responses and respond to two or more peers with thoughts that *extend* the conversation.

 

Read the prompt for an informational writing pre-assessment.  Choose your topic, set your timer for 45 minutes, and compose your essay.

Using the rubric provided, review the essay you wrote on the previous day.  Grade yourself with this rubric, and note where you need to improve your writing abilities.  Submit both the essay and your ratings on the rubric for assignment .17 Informational Writing Pre-Assessment.
