In this unit, you've learned about the research process, but you've learned a lot about Martin Luther King, Jr. as well.  Remembered for his impact and legacy, he was chosen for Time Magazine's "Man of the Year" in 1963 -- an honor given to one individual (or occasionally, a small group of individuals or even a machine) annually since 1927.

The decision is sometimes difficult.  Even for 2017, there were 10 individuals on the shortlist for this award.  Time does not intend a political statement on this award but chooses someone "who most influenced the news, for better or for worse."

In your reflective journal, compose an entry of approximately 1/2 page in which you nominate him for this award.  Give evidence of how he influenced the news and the nation (and the world) over the years and why he should be chosen as someone who "most influenced the news, for better or for worse." You don't need to limit your description to simply the single year of the nomination;  cover the impact he made over his lifetime for this unit summary.  You can use the information you have learned in sessions 1-3 along with any information you uncovered on your own.

Add this entry to the Google journal (the same Google document) that you started in the introduction session and continued in sessions 1 and 2.
