Welcome and Essential Questions

Welcome to Unit 8 Session 2.  In this session we'll continue working on your final project, a reflective presentation.  Our goal for this session is to gain a better understanding of the underlying structure of a well-written reflection as well as complete a draft for the text of your presentation.

Here are a few essential questions we'll consider:

• What have I learned? How have I grown? Why should I share these experiences with my audience?
• Does my work show my audience (e.g., readers and listeners) that I am an authority on the topic?
• How do elements of context impact my decisions when preparing a piece for oral delivery versus written delivery? What are some similarities and different in the decisions I make?
• Why is it worthwhile to deliberate over the language I use to craft my own writing? What guides my language selection?
• What language can I use to signal to my audience that I am speaking reflectively?
• How do I prepare for a collaboration? What are my roles and responsibilities?
• What should I focus on first for revision: ideas, language, or non-verbal presentation?
• What questions do I ask in order to gather effective feedback on my own work?
• How do I provide effective feedback to others?
