Lesson Objectives

We have critically examined perspective of various individuals, including Cesar Chavez, Malcolm X, and Martyin Luther King, Jr. It is now time to write about what you have learned about purpose and perspective regarding power.

By the end of the week, you will:

• produce a multi-paragraph essay comparing and contrasting the ideas of various authors on their perspective of how people gain and use power
• apply elements of the writing process, including planning, writing, revising, editing, and proofing
• demonstrate understanding of essay components, including thesis, transitions, and supporting details
• apply standard English to writing, incorporating correct grammar and conventions
