Animal-like protists are single-celled heterotrophs. These protists are also mobile. 

Animal-like protists are sometimes called protozoa. 

Mobility is through one of the following:

• One or more flagella 
• Pseudopods - change shape as the organisms move
• Cilia - help protists to swim

Some animal-like protists cause disease. 

• Malaria is caused by Plasmodium
• Giardia is caused by Giardia
