In this unit you began your study of organic chemistry in earnest, although if you have completed Athabasca University’s Chemistry 218 course, you will already be familiar with a number of the topics that have been discussed. You should review the contents of this unit by reading “Summary and Keywords” section on page 101 of Organic Chemistry, 8th ed. You should attempt some of the additional problems listed at the end of Chapter 3 (pp. 103-107) as extra practice. A self test will be given at the end of Unit 5 covering material in Units 3-5. This self test will give you a better idea of your progress through the initial part of the course.
